Boston LUNA Chix Cycling Team

Quote of the week: "You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along' . . . You must do the thing you think you cannot do." - Eleanor Roosevelt

MeettheTeam Roz

My bikes: Giant NRS1 Full Suspension, Custom Santa Cruz hardtail that I got second hand (from Alison Dunlap!), Specialized Allez, Soma Double Cross, Bianchi Pista

How I fuel my riding/racing: Chicken Parmigiana.  It is my ritualistic pre-race meal.  If I've had chicken parm within 24 hours of a race, I feel prepared.

Places I've ridden: I've ridden in the bamboo forests of Thailand, I've done bike messenger (alleycat) races in London and NYC, I mountain biked in Nepal for New Years 2005-6, I've raced in Pakistan, British Columbia and ridden all over the USA, including Idaho, Alaska, Colorado, Utah, California, New Mexico and North Carolina.

Notable Bike Racing Experience: I am the 2007 30-39 USA Cycling Super D National Champion! In 2004, I raced in the World Solo 24 Hours of Adrenalin Championships and placed 14th as an elite. It was an honor to race among such amazing athletes.   In 2006, I was invited to race in the Tour of the Karakurrams, a MTB race to benefit the Pakistani earthquake victims of 2005.  There were 36 invited cyclists from all over the world, and I was the first American female to race her bike in Pakistan. I also raced there in 2007, this time with a team of five Americans, and the race was renamed Tour of the Himalayas.

Featured Product
LUNA Moons

I recently tried the new LUNA Moons on a group ride.  Right away I noticed the size of the package and how easily it fit in the back pocket of my jersey.  The pack of  pomegranate Moons I tried were a modest 100 calories and 6 to a pack, which equals 1 serving.

Moons are smaller and easier to handle than their Shot Blox kin. They have a nice - sweet but not not too sweet - fruity punch and a firm texture that made my mouth happy.  I followed them with some water and set out for a 30-mile ride. At the half-way mark, I finished the pack.  I found that one pack of Moons helped me maintain enough energy for a leisurely ride.  It’s also pretty cool that Moons contain Vitamin C and that they gel with pectin rather than gelatin. Moons currently come in three flavors: pomegranate, blueberry and watermelon and sell for only $1.29 at your local bike shop!
